The Crow (1994)

Directed by Alex Proyas
Genre: Thriller / Action

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

I must confess I have watched this movie like a dozen times, however my girlfriend really wanted to watch it with me...I've told it about all the 'classic goth movies' and it was insistant it wanted to watch some with me so we watched this one first. It loved this movie, thank god. ♡ This movie is also sort of special to me because its something that was introduced to me by my parents...A family classic, if you will.
Also let us not forget that the soundtrack to this movie fucking rocks. I have it on vinyl.

Dead Ringers (1988)

Directed by David Cronenberg
Genre: Thriller / Horror

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★

Oh my beloved David Cronenberg...Honestly a lot slower than your typical Cronenberg movie so it took me a bit to actually get into it...But I enjoyed it regardless. Espeically the ending the shot & the breif bits of body horror. As always I think Cronenberg really really goes ham with his set designs every single time without fail. Dude...The surgeons scrubs being RED instead of blue? Oh my god. So good. Also Jeremy Irons looks sooooo good in this movie.

Gothic & Lolita Psycho (2010)

Directed by Gô Ohara
Genre: Horror / Action

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

A classic revenge movie about a girl dawning gothic lolita fashion and killing the assassins who killed her mother one by one...I personally love these kinda cheap horror-action movies so I really had a massively fun time watching this...I love when movies have a character get cut open or amputated and a massive amount of blood comes out like littetally a fountain. It's the best. It reminds me a bit of Tokyo Gore Police just with a bit of a lesser budget. I really love all the costume designs in this movie, espeically of the main girl , Yuki. (I know, fork found in kitchen.) I reccomend if you like fun J-horror stuff.

Look Outside (2025)

Developed by Francis Coulombe
Genre: RPG / Survival Horror

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Probably my favorite game I've ever played as of recent. I could sing this games praises forever but I will keep it short to not risk me sounding like a huge-massive dickrider (which I am :]!) But despite me not being a huge rpg-maker game girl (Though this and a few others being the exceptions) I think this game kept me hooked until the end not only because of the fantastic writing of the characters and the story alike and the just amazing visuals and music. Not alot of games move me to tears but Look Outside did it multiple times. I really do value the overall message of the game alot. I remember being a tad skeptical when my friends were urging me to play it, but like an hour in it made me burst into tears and since then I have become dedciated to 100%ing it lol. It's all very bittersweet. Real horror accented by moments of vulnerability and kindness and just very human issues that really make you imprint onto the characters and make you care. Overall genuinely good game, I highly reccomend.

The Outlast Trials (2024)

Developed by Red Barrels
Genre: Action-Adventure / Survival Horror

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

I first picked up this game to play with my girlfriend, since it has...a lot of hours in this game. At first I was a tad nervous due to me being so shitty at stealth-horror games and just multiplayer teamwork games in general. But I was pleasently suprised! I've always loved the Outlast game series (However I've never gotten an opprotunity to play it since my computer sucked until recently & I'm to broke to afford a console lol) so this was my first proper entry into the series...Which I'm sure some die-hard Outlast fans will probably be upset about (cry harder). I mostly only play it with my girlfriend and older brother. I am so so endeared to the Prime Assets. They're all utterly horrific people but theyre so well written and so fun to mess around with that I can't help but like them lol. Mother Gooseberry and The Kress Twins are probably my favorites so far... Otto and Arora's back and fourths are absolutetly henious and filthy. My god.

Monster Hunter: WORLD (2018)

Developed by Capcom
Genre: Action-Adventure / RPG

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Genuinely my go-to game when I need something to do. It's just so...goddamn...FUN. Espeically when I am able to play with my friends (who did alot of carrying for me in the early game...) I'm sure many would see how grind-y this game is as a downside but personally thats why I love it so much. The endless amounts of tasks, upgrades, quests, etc. is my personal heaven. Also the monsters are sick as fuck. Shout out my goat Odagaron.

I Feel Sick (1999-2000)

Created by Jhonen Vasquez
Genre: Horror / Dark Comedy

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Another Jhonen Vasquez classic. I certainly like this book a lot more than I thought because I relate to the main character, Devi's, struggle with her artistry even if it is...Driven by supernatural forces at some points. She's very OCD-coded to be (though it was unintentionally, i just see alot of my compulsions in her.) I really really love the art in this as well, seeing Jhonen's art improve from the beginning of JTHM and then to Squee! and this book is pretty cool. It all culminates to the style we'd eventually see in Invader Zim. Seeing the lore we sort of missed in JTHM kinda be explained in IFS is pretty awesome, specfically the whole 'demonic forces' thing. It only made me view Johnny with more sympathy than I already did. But I will say Devi will always be justified in beating the snot out of him. Another thing actually is the occurance of like...What I assume is Jhonen's go-to character archetypes which is stoic, serious and easily irritated main character (Devi) and zany, wacky, lol random sidekick than constantly gets on the others nerves (Tenna). I love it. Marginally less gory that JTHM so if thats your speed I'd maybe take a look.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (1995-1997)

Created by Jhonen Vasquez
Genre: Horror / Dark Comedy

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Everyone just SIGHED seeing this one here - Yes Vi, we know you like Johnny...LISTEN!! I think it's fun...Anyway, I've known of Johnny since I was super young, first being introduced to him and his comic via a youtube video (I still even remember which one...) but now, as an adult, I have re-read it MULTIPLE times. I do love when Jhonen is able to excercise his full creative liberties and not be held back by...Childrens televisions restrictions *cough cough*...Jthm is packed-full of twisted shit and black comedy I really enjoy that I don't see done much (or I guess done RIGHT) nowadays as well as some good serious storybeats. I find Johnny himself to be extremely compelling...He's so tortured it makes me so sad. He's quite litterally god and satans least favorite boy...I could go on about him forever but...That's for another webpage I think. If you liked the grim, twisted elements of Invader Zim then you might enjoy this. It's very graphically violent in its splatstick humor which may not be for everyone. Another thing me and my girlfriend are kinda rabid about together pfff...
I'll put some stuff here soon..I got remember some of the stuff I've watched recently.

Welcome to the Media Log!

I'll be using this to keep track of all the stuff I've been reading, playing, watching, etc...And also give my thoughts on them.
Spoilers will be present! Espeically in the reviews section...Also, a lot of stuff I like contains horror, gore and general adult content.
